Rachel Berman has an M.A. in Human Development and Family Relations, and a Ph.D. in Family Studies. She has been at Toronto Metropolitan University since 2000 where she has been involved in a number of research projects looking at families and community based programs that support families. Her research now focuses on children's perspectives, and race in early childhood settings. She is currently a co-principal investigator on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Funded research project entitled "Can we talk about race? Confronting Colour-Blindness in Early Childhood Settings." Dr. Berman is presently the Graduate Program Director for the MA in Early Childhood Studies. She teaches courses on social research with children, and theoretical frameworks for early childhood studies.
