Bio/Research

Dr. George Gekas is an Associate Professor of Business Administration at the School of Business Management of Toronto Metropolitan University in Toronto. Prior to his appointment to Toronto Metropolitan University, Dr. Gekas taught for over 20 years in the discipline of Business Administration at several different universities in Canada, USA, and Europe. His academic career includes appointments with the University of College of Cape Breton, Algoma University College, Toronto Metropolitan University, University of Maryland, American College of Greece (Deree) and the University of Western Ontario.

George Gekas holds a honours B.A. degree in Economics from the Economic University of Athens. a Masters in Economics degree from Lakehead University an honours Bachelor of Commerce and MBA degrees. From the university of Windsor, a PhD from Hull University in England and the CMA and FCMA designation from the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.

Dr. Gekas’ active research program includes several research projects, and a number of articles in a wide variety of business topics, teaching aids and manuals. His expertise covers the entire financial management spectrum and organizational performance, including corporate governance, strategic management, financial reporting, operational efficiency, accountability, and performance. Professor Gekas has been involved in a number of organizations in a variety of capacities and is fully immersed in the issues facing post secondary education.
