Bio/Research

Daniel Tsai, JD, LLM in Technology Law (Ottawa), MBA (Cornell University), MBA (Queen's University), PhD (ABD) (Osgoode Hall Law School) is a lawyer, business executive, academic, and consultant with extensive knowledge of business and law.

Daniel was the General Counsel of a publicly traded multinational technology company and as an executive in retail successfully led initiatives in innovation, supply chain, sales, marketing, and strategy resulting in significant growth.

Daniel has written on business, policy, and legal issues for the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen, Postmedia, The Hill Times, The Advocate, the Lawyer's Weekly, and several legal texts.

Daniel has won prestigious academic awards for his legal scholarship and writing, including the JSD Tory Writing Award for Legal Writing and Research, the B.B. Dubienski Memorial Scholarship, and the Nathanson Fellowship at Osgoode Hall Law School.

As a senior policy advisor in the Canadian government recruited under the elite Recruiting Policy Leaders (RPL) Program, Daniel wrote new Canadian laws and advised senior government officials on policy changes.

Daniel's LLM and PhD research was in taxation and technology law.

An excellent public speaker, Daniel has a teaching certificate from the University of Cambridge. Daniel is the editor of ConsumerRights.ca - one of Canada's leading consumer advocacy websites.

With an interest in languages, Daniel has studied French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, German and Chinese, scoring in the top decile on Harvard's Modern Languages Aptitude Test (MLAT).
